Polarized, Plastic and Patterned: Summer 2015 Sunglasses Trends

Let’s face it: Things aren’t looking so bright here in East Texas as far as the economy goes, so perhaps you don’t need stylish new sunglasses. We do encourage their consistent use, though, because they protect the eyes from UV damage that can lead to vision loss. Keep in mind, too, that a pair of sunglasses is a relatively inexpensive way to update your look, and if you’ve been eyeing the latest trends, now is the time to buy. Our semiannual half-off sunglasses sale starts today, June 29, and runs through July 3.

That’s right. We’re offering 50% off all in-stock nonprescription sunglasses, including prestige performance brands like Costa, Oakley and Maui Jim.

Here’s what is trending locally and nationally. (Not the trendy type? We get it. If you prefer a classic look for timeless appeal, a utilitarian pair for a specific purpose, or simple styling for everyday wear, our opticians can set you up.)

Polarized lenses

Because they significantly reduce glare, we recommend polarized lenses across the board, and they are indispensable for fishing and other water sports.

Classic aviators

Every season offers a fresh take on aviators, which flatter just about every face. Reflective lenses are still in style, with cobalt blue and coral emerging as fashion favorites.

Plastic with patterns

With frames, we’re seeing chunky plastic printed all over with small, repeating patterns such as camo, houndstooth, floral, gingham and animal prints.

Connect the dots: Small, repeating patterns on plastic lenses are gaining in popularity.

Whatever your style, Insight Eyecare has you covered. Of course, there are other factors to keep in mind when shopping for sunglasses, which we discussed in a previous post.

Have a safe summer!
